I started with SLC in October 2005 as a Java Analyst Programmer.
My role today as part of the Java Development Team involves Java coding, estimating new work, liaising with other members of staff, technical design and putting builds together, as well as supporting System Test and Live environments and interviewing new recruits to SLC.
I am also involved in mentoring more junior members of staff and breaking pieces of work down into individual tasks for people to work on as well as quality reviewing of artefacts produced by others.
I like working for SLC as there are a wide variety of projects which range from simple year-end rollovers and implementing government policy through to working with various Government Departments on sharing information. The Final Salary Pension Scheme and flexitime are excellent, as is the Work/Life balance within the directorate.
