Customer Support Adviser, Glasgow

I have worked for the Student Loans Company since June 2006. Currently I work Monday to Friday 1130 - 2000 within the Customer Support Centre (CSC). This shift benefits from a generous shift allowance and overtime is widely available which helps towards holidays and Christmas.

The holiday entitlement and flexitime are a great bonus when working for SLC and they contribute to a great Work/Life balance within the Company.

My role within the CSC consists of dealing with all types of customers from new students applying for the first time to customers who have finished university and are now in repayment. I am trained in seven different products and this helps me deal effectively with complex issues our customers may face and build trust with them.

I enjoy the challenge of my job and feel a sense of achievement when I have resolved a customer's issue. I know that they appreciate and value the assistance they get when contacting us.

Overall, working at SLC has given me real opportunities to build and develop my skills. I would encourage anyone with good communication skills, who strives for challenge and who would enjoy being part of a strong customer-focused environment, to consider this as a career. It can be hard work at times but highly rewarding in the end.
