Customer Support Adviser, Darlington

I am a customer advisor for Student Finance England.

I have worked for the Company for almost 3 and a half years in their 'state of the art' Contact Centre at Lingfield Point, Darlington.

I really enjoy my role as a customer advisor here as I feel a real sense of achievement in helping students get financial support to fund their time at university.

Previously, I have worked as a Bar Manager and also an Insurance Agent, so I did not have any experience as far as student finance was concerned. However, I received extensive training when I joined the company and it didn't end there. I regularly receive ongoing training and support to help me develop and progress further in my role as a customer advisor.

This is a good company to work for as we have a diverse work force and our customers are from all walks of life. It makes the job interesting and sometimes challenging!

I've made some fantastic friends at work and we socialise outside of the office. Our Events team work hard to make sure we have a good Christmas party and we have other events throughout the year - making SLC a great place to work.

My salary and benefits are excellent, very competitive in comparison to other jobs out there, so that is a plus point. We offer a good pension scheme and we have a union.
