What’s the job?
The Head of Compliance and Risk Management leads a team within the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) directorate and is a member of the CFO Senior Management Team (SMT). The SMT is responsible for the management of the CFO Directorate of approximately 145 staff, developing the vision and strategy and ensuring that it delivers an excellent service to both internal and external customers and stakeholders. The CFO Directorate also includes Finance, Commercial and Estates functions.
As Head of Compliance and Risk Management you will lead the design and development of a new function in the CFO Directorate incorporating a new Compliance function with the existing Corporate Risk Management Team. You will be responsible for ensuring that SLC has a robust compliance and risk management framework in place. Working to industry accepted practice, you will develop internal control measures to support Heads of Services embed robust compliance and risk management controls across the other SLC Directorates and provide 1st line of defence assurance and reporting to the CFO.
How do I apply?
You will be educated to Degree level or equivalent experience gained in Industry or Government with a track record of strong performance within audit, assurance, risk management or equivalent functions. You will have experience of developing controls frameworks and of implementing controls from a 1st or 2nd line of defence perspective with a strong understanding of the financial management and control requirements in the public sector. You will be able to demonstrate a significant contribution at senior/executive level or equivalent in an organisation going through organisational change and have the ability to build and manage relationships with a broad mix of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Furthermore you will possess strong analytical, literacy and numeracy skills and the ability to interpret complex data sets and articulate complex, technical findings to a variety of audiences.
