What’s the job?
The Data Services and Analysis (DS&A) department ensures that the information assets held by SLC can be efficiently and effectively exploited by key stakeholders in their preferred format, either directly or via information services supplied by the DS&A team within SLC. The department sits within the Chief Financial Officer directorate in SLC.
As Data Mining Analyst, you will have two aspects to your role. The first is to provide support to the Manager, MI Service to SLC in relation to his role as Data Migration Lead within the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) project, engaging with business SMEs to define & develop data extracts to support the data migration. The second is the provision of data, information and guidance to the SLC operational departments. The service plays a key role in promoting continuous improvement & enhancing the strategy of SLC Internal Stakeholders. Some of the information can be produced in a straightforward manner using Microstrategy against the Data Warehouse but a significant part of the work involves complex design and scripting using SQL.
How do I apply?
It is essential you have a Higher Education qualification in a computer related discipline or significant relevant experience within an Information delivery or ICT role. This experience will include SQL, PL/SQL and data analysis. You will have an appreciation of information security controls (security classifications, data protection, disclosure control) and proven ability in solving complex business processes through a numerate, analytical approach to problem solving.
It would be advantageous if you had an understanding of different data models (relational, star schema), Business Intelligence tools (e.g. Microstrategy) and experience of working within ERP related areas – Human Resources, Finance, Commercial or Projects.
