What’s the job?
The role operates within the Governance and Supplier Strategy team within Commercial Services but will support SLC’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Programme. GDPR has an enterprise-wide impact for SLC which requires significant process redesign, technical build, investment to deliver and evidence compliance for both customer and staff personal data.
Improved diligence and transparency around the capture and use of data will, in the longer term, also provide opportunities to enhance the customer experience and the insight available to deliver on SLC’s strategic objectives.
As Commercial Manager (GDPR Compliance & Assurance) you will:
- Be the Commercial Services Lead for GDPR. You will be the main stakeholder for contractual and commercial advice to SLC about GDPR compliance and take the necessary steps required to meet legislative change and prevent future commercial risk to SLC.
- Develop and implement a GDPR Commercial Assurance Plan for 3rd party suppliers to SLC.
- Monitor the compliance with the GDPR Assurance Plan taking remedial action where required and escalating issues to the Commercial Governance and Compliance Manager.
- Provide training, support and advice on GDPR commercial activity across SLC.
How do I apply?
You will possess strong baseline knowledge of Data Protection legislation and GDPR with the capacity to upskill and learn on the job with the ability to discuss data protection and information security requirements from a legal, risk, compliance and commercial perspective with key stakeholders.
You will have a proven record of accomplishment of renegotiation contracts (preferably within public sector procurement with a substantial track record of delivering complex procurement projects in a public sector or similar environment and excellent knowledge of leading procurement practice governance and assurance principles, processes and practices.
You will have Prince 2 or MCIPS accreditation and/or equivalent qualification/related experience ideally in Project Management.
Furthermore you will have the ability to deliver to strict deadlines and targets, have excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, well-developed analytical, organisational and problem solving skills and a high level of IT literacy, including MS Office.
